Partner with KARA
Universities, CASA programmes, nonprofits and county teams: what a partnership with KARA actually looks like.
Most of what KARA has built was built with somebody else’s students, volunteers or staff. Around fifty institutions have put teams on this work. This page is how the next one starts.
Universities and colleges
Hamline University is KARA’s official university partner, and Hamline student teams have worked on the research, the tools and this website. That is the shape most academic partnerships take: a term-length project with a real deliverable, supervised on the university side and briefed on KARA’s.
Work that has gone to student teams includes the cited source library, the state-by-state records, the design system behind this site, and the accuracy audits that keep the numbers honest. Student research partnerships also come through Riipen.
For a single session rather than a project, campus conversations is the lighter route: Mike speaks, students take the material away, nobody signs anything.
CASA and guardian ad litem programmes
If your programme is short of volunteers, the CASA Google Ad Grant initiative exists to put search advertising behind local recruitment at no cost to the programme. KARA runs the grant; the volunteers go to you.
Nonprofits, agencies and county teams
The toolkits are free to reproduce and free to teach from, which makes the most common partnership the simplest one: take them, put them in your induction or your staff training, and tell KARA what was missing so the next version has it. There is no licence, no fee, and no permission to request.
Where a partnership needs to go further than that, say what you need. KARA would rather scope one real thing than sign a memorandum.
