National Child Abuse Information & Solutions Platform
KARA’s AI-driven, interactive database on child abuse, neglect and childhood trauma. It aggregates hard-to-find data and turns it into actionable insight. KARA SIGNAL and the Resource Navigator are its first live pieces.
KARA is building an AI-driven, interactive database platform to inform the public, lawmakers, administrators and others impacted by and working with childhood trauma. Over the coming months, the platform will grow and become more robust based on usage and ongoing research.
What it does
- Aggregates critical, hard-to-find data on children’s mental health, child protection systems, child abuse and neglect, and childhood trauma.
- Translates complex information into actionable insights.
- Provides real-time, interactive and accessible resources for key stakeholders — and clear information for anyone searching for it.
- Changes the absent and negative narrative in child protection to an accurate conversation about the data, stories, policies, strengths and weaknesses of our institutions — currently, historically, and with projections of what can be done.
Who it empowers
- Educators, to identify and deal effectively with at risk children.
- Law enforcement, to intervene successfully.
- Healthcare and social workers, to provide trauma-informed care.
- Administrators and policy makers, to craft evidence-based policies that work.
- Community leaders and the general public, with information and resources that have never been this findable.
By centralizing vital information that has not been transparent — and often not available at all — the platform works to reverse the alarming trends of generational child abuse, mental-health struggle, and childhood trauma in America.
See it working today
Two pieces of the platform are already live: KARA SIGNAL, the state-by-state child welfare data record, and the Resource Navigator on this site — the “Resources” tab on the right edge of every page, with more than 12,000 cited sources behind it.
