This is a snapshot of changes being made to the safety net for child protection, public health and education. Please take a few minutes and show your support for those programs and policies you know to be of value to the weakest and most vulnerable among us.

Across the country, legislators are dusting off atrocious policies our movement buried years ago:

  • Unsafe youth detention centers are being reopened or expanded.
  • Bills that let children stand trial as adults are being introduced across the country. In Nebraska, legislators are even trying to get 12-year-old children tried as adults.
  • Mandatory minimum sentences that have long proven to increase recidivism are creeping back into juvenile codes.
