Gather with us on September 15th at 1:00 p.m. at the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., as grandparents and other relative caregivers from across the country take part in the 4th National GrandRally. The GrandRally is a powerful way to gain lawmakers’ attention and to focus on the importance of relative caregivers-the challenges they face and the contributions they make.
In the midst of scarce resources and a tumultuous economy, relative caregivers keep children safe and in stable homes.
The GrandRally will be an historic opportunity to celebrate, create momentum, expand awareness and build upon the success from previous GrandRallies.

What’s it like to be seventy years old and become the single adoptive parent of four abused and neglected children?
My first experience with grandparent adoptions was profound and is with me fifteen years later.
An unfathonably generous grandmother adopted her four severely abused grandchildren.
A twelve year old quadriplegic, a severely burned young girl (Annie), and two high energy boys. On a first visit as a guardian ad-Litem, grandma stated “when Annie is 18, I will be 88”.
From toddler to twelve year old, this fearless giant-hearted woman dedicated her final years to the terrific task of raising her very troubled grandchildren.
I have other stories about grandparent and relative adoption.
They all have the same theme. Terrific self sacrifice and commitment & love that knows no bounds.
There are about six million American children being raised by grandparents & relatives.
They deserve all the support this nation can give them.
