These attacks are creating fear and destroying the fabric of your community and will make your next weeks, months and years of classroom learning full of fear that it will happen again.
Targeting children in or around schools to enforce immigration laws is a profoundly traumatizing attack on children and ethical failure of a society’s duty protect minors.
By targeting schools and daycare lawmakers are violating International human rights norms and U.S. education and child-welfare standards. They are creating city wide havoc with warlike tactics. Tactics that result in dead and wounded people shot by Federal agents.
Across the country at least a dozen people have been shot and killed recently by Federal agents with their military tactics.
Schools are spaces where children’s safety, development, and access to education should be insulated from what are becoming violent law-enforcement actions.
School immigration raids drive spikes in absenteeism, chronic fear, and trauma for citizen and non-citizen children alike.
Today there are 2,000 – 3000 federal agents in the Minneapolis region where families are being stopped and detained while driving to or from school and daycares and schools are being searched by armed officers.
These attacks traumatize children, unravel local economies and leave scars on entire communities long after the raids end.
